Anna Mamula

1923 – 2018

Mrs. Anna Mamula nee Zacchini passed away peacefully with her family by her side, at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Monday, April 2, 2018 at the age of 94 years.

Anna was born in a small town of Libano Italy on July 26, 1923 to her parents, Nazzareno and Angela Zacchini. She was raised in Italy with her 2 brothers, Nello and Franco and her sister, Maria until she broken-heartedly left her family to move to Canada.

In the 50’s, Anna travelled across the ocean and settled in Taber Alberta and later moved to Lethbridge to raise her five children on her own. She struggled with pride and never excepted help from anyone. Later she worked at Southland nursing home and she enjoyed and cared about her job. She never complained about anything, she was happy to have a job and support her family. In those days it wasn’t easy.

Mama was full of life and energy, was an incredible cook (one of her many traits) and she was always happy. A selfless woman explains her well – always putting other peoples feelings ahead of her own. She enjoyed many things such as: crocheting, traveling, her deep faith which carried her and music which really lifted her. My goodness she was very funny and anyone that met her fell in love with her. This woman you will not find again! God made only one! We were so lucky to have been picked to be her children. Through tough times and special moments.

Her children and grandchildren were her life – that says it all! She left us five children behind for now, to join her parents, one brother and one sister.

Anna is survived by three daughters, Grace (Dan) Ell, Marta (Ed) Mumford and Georgia (Matt) Rickson; two sons, Gabriel (Gaya) Mamula and Michael Mamula; as well as ten grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.

You are our Angel Mama, Our Friend! We love you! Memories will never fade, for the impact you have had on us will forever be strong in our hearts. Please come visit us when you can in our dreams! Your family is there with you and we will be with you again
