Mrs. June A. Fawns of Raymond, beloved wife of the late Mr. Reed Fawns, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at the age of 94 years.

Born May 30, 1923 in Cardston, Alberta to Moses Albert and Sarah Aurelia Garner Anderson in Cardston, Alberta.

June was the youngest of five siblings, all predeceased her, Lloyd (Mamie), Mabel (Robert) Salmon, Lynn (Rose), and Frank (Vesta) Anderson. Losing her father, due to an accident, at the age of 1 1/2 years and her mother, due to illness, at 10 years of age, June was raised by her aunt and uncle (Zina and William (Billy) Anderson in Raymond.

June served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the Eastern Canada Mission from 1946 to 1948. On her way home, she was involved in an accident, that almost completely severed her wrist and hand, leaving her without much use of that hand. She faced her challenges with courage and faith. Miracles happened she said.

June was married to Reed Fawns in November 1952. Reed passed away in 1954. As Reed and June had no children, her nieces and nephews became her extended family, as did many of the children of the Town of Raymond, and special neighbours.

June worked at the Bank of Montreal in Raymond for 32 years as a trainer, stenographer, and teller.

June was very active in her church for many years and passed away with her strong testimony still intact. She served in the Cardston Alberta Temple for 12 years. She loved to travel and did so extensively.

Her energy and zest for life were evident in everything she did. She supported the many fund raisers the town held, the musicals, the programs, hating to miss anything. She loved her Comets and would go to meet the bus and tell them how good they had done, even when they lost. She considered them all family.

June knows she is in a better place now and wants each of us to know how happy she is to be there. She is complete and whole and back in loving arms.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, April 20, 2018 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – KNIGHT STREET CHAPEL (260 E 200 N – Raymond, AB), with Branch President Lanny Howard, officiating. Respects may be made prior to the service from 10:00am – 10:45am.
