A funeral is not a day in a lifetime,
it is a lifetime in a day!!!
Beloved husband of Colleen Julie Pickett passed away in Calgary on May 10 2018 at the age of 62.
Riley is survived by his 3 daughters: Amanda Rae Pickett (or Minnie as he called her) of Taber, Hannah Emily Pickett (Logan Fournier) of Edmonton, and Jamie Dawn Lesburg (Zakary Lesburg) also of Edmonton.
Riley had 4 grandchildren: Bradley Riley Pickett, Kalista Bailey, Madyson Bailey and the newest addition Chevy Lesburg. Riley was also blessed with a great-grandson: Kash Holt-Wilton.
Along with his father Floyd Pickett and his loving sisters Shanon (Marv Harwood) and Karen (Mary Harrison) he had numerous nieces and nephews.
Riley took great pride in his career within the oilfield trucking industry. He tried to live his life in such a manner as to create a framework for his girls to build upon. He was a very charismatic man who loved camping, fishing and enjoying his family and friends.
Riley was deeply passionate about his faith and tried oh so hard to get his girls to follow. He would often have deep talks with them about his philosophy of life and his perception of the mysteries that our journeys hold.
Always the trickster, Riley would put spiders in Hannah’s shoes, or apply double-sided sticky tape to the fridge door, or tease Jamie with the nickname of “James” every chance he could. Even more memorable was the time he used shoe laces to tie a loose bumper back onto Amanda’s car because he figured that she was not being “hickster” enough just living in Taber. His best invention of all, however, was to zip-tie the toilet seat down so he would not fall off… all in good fun.
Riley was a huge presence in many, many lives and he will be missed! But lets remember that he hasn’t really left us, he has gone to his heavenly home and will always be closer than we know.
