McCUTCHEON

Mr. John Malcolm McCutcheon, it is with profound sadness we say farewell to our beloved John who passed away suddenly just before his annual visit to Vancouver for the Christmas Holidays.

John was born in Lethbridge on May 22, 1952 to Dr. John Sr. & Helen (nee Furnell) McCutcheon. He was a loving, kind and caring person who put family first in his life.

John attended school in Lethbridge, graduated in Honors Physics from the University of Alberta and earned his masters degree in Nuclear Physics from the University of Toronto. He was an avid reader, loved the outdoors and enjoyed hiking, camping, and skiing. John had a successful career in Calgary for many years. He found pleasure in upgrading his home and landscaping his yard. After suffering from a severe and crippling depression, John moved back to Lethbridge. Although John was not able to go back to his professional work, he volunteered at the Ability Bottle Depot in North Lethbridge. John regularly visited with his sister Judy in Athabasca, enjoyed holiday dinners with his niece Nicole in Medicine Hat and visited his sisters Linda & Jane in Vancouver. Once every summer he would travel to Bamfield on Vancouver Island where he enjoyed family gatherings and fishing.

John is survived by his sisters Jane McCutcheon (Manfred), Judy Stady & Linda Hill (Dan), nieces and nephews Steven Stady (Tonya, Oliver, Glynnis), Nicole Barabe (Stephane), Tim Hill (Brittany), Katie Hill (Ian), Astrid Gradlmiller and Max Gradlmiller.

A Celebration of John’s Life will be held at 3:00pm on Tuesday May 22, 2018 at the SOUTHMINSTER UNITED CHURCH CHAPEL – 1011 4 Ave S, Lethbridge, AB.
