Leo Palencia

1978 – 2018

We are sad to announce the sudden passing of Leo Palencia, on June 10, 2018 at the age of 39. Leo will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Ellen; sons: Theo and Tristan; his mother, Hildreth, father Leonardo (deceased); siblings: Glenn (deceased), Jun, Allan (deceased), Louella and Franklin. Leo was born in Iloilo City, Philippines to Leonardo Palencia and Hildreth Masna Palencia on October 31, 1978. He went to Iloilo City National Highschool, and to the University of San Agustin earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in Marketing. His first employment was at Procter and Gamble Philippines as a distributor. He met the love of his life, Ellen through his best friend Porferio Porras; whom he married on June 21, 2004. They were blessed with their first born, Theo. In 2008, Leo was offered a job in Canada. He didn’t have any second thoughts accepting it as he knew it would be a good opportunity for himself and his family. After 5 years, he was reunited with his family here in Canada, and their youngest child, Tristan was born. Leo enjoyed playing basketball, surf boarding and airsoft in his spare time and his strong sense of family was nurtured by his parents. He is very handy to everything at home and outside the home. On several occasions, he would extend help to his fellow Filipinos in the community in every way he could. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects from 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM on Thursday, June 28, 2018 and Friday, June 29, 2018 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610-4 Street South, Lethbridge. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 AM, Saturday, June 30, 2018 at OUR LADY OF THE ASSUMPTION ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2405 12 Avenue South, Lethbridge, with Father Kevin Tumback, presider. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Ellen personally, or to the GoFundMe page set up for Ellen and her two children, Theo and Tristan. The family would like to thank everyone, especially the Lethbridge Filipino Community, who in one way or another have come to help us during this sorrowful time.
