ADA MARGARET SHERMAN
1920 ~ 2018

Mrs. Ada Sherman of Lethridge, passed away peacefully at AgeCare Columbia on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at the age of 97 years.
Ada was born in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan November 10,1920 to Frank and Alice Smith. The family moved to The Park Lake district in 1927 and a year later Alice passed away and Frank was left with 4 small children to raise. Ada learned early to cook, bake and was an amazing seamstress and avid gardener. In 1939 the family moved to Nobleford. Shortly thereafter Ada met Andy Sherman and they were married in 1941. They lived in Nobleford for over 63 years until they moved to Lethbridge in 2004.
Ada is survived by her children: Jack (Wendy), Betty, and Karen (Dave); 9 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Ada was predeceased by her loving husband of over 74 years, Andy in 2016; her siblings: Les and Bob Smith; sister Frances Kwasny; and her dear friends Emma Smith and Lois Hann.
Ada was active in Nobleford in her church, was on the committee that published the area history book in 1976, was a founding member of the Nobleford Area Museum Society and the Nobleford Seniors Centre. She loved her garden; and canned and processed all of the produce. Her grandchildren loved to spend summers and holidays with Andy and Ada to camp with them throughout B.C.; and especially Waterton, which was their favourite place. The extended family of nephews and nieces would gather every summer in their huge backyard in Nobleford for a party and a feast of Ada’s baking, especially her signature poppy seed buns.
In the past 5 years, Ada resided at Columbia AgeCare Assisted Living. She had dementia but could bring her loving caregivers and family to laughter with her quick wit and head tilt. Her care was amazing and lovingly provided.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 30, at 2:00 HYPERLINK “http://p.m.at” pm at MARTIN BROTHERS FUNERAL CHAPELS, 610-4 Street South, Lethbridge with Reverend James Grunden officiating.
Flowers are graciously declined. Those who wish, may make a memorial donation to the Nobleford Area Museum Society, Box 505, Nobleford, AB T0LIS0.
