MILLER, Richard Dale February 14, 1956 – Shaunavon, Saskatchewan July 13, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta

Dale Miller was born on Valentine’s Day, 1956 in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan and passed away, surrounded by family on July 13th in Calgary, Alberta. Dale grew up in Southern Alberta, moved to Calgary after getting married in 1980 and began articling at Price Waterhouse. Dale was a proud CA who held executive leadership roles in various Oil and Gas ventures over a successful 34 year career. Dale was often found on a ski hill volunteering for his children’s races, boating at the lake or puttering around the yard with its perfectly manicured lawn. After retiring, Dale and Maria enjoyed the Canadian winters from Arizona where music, sports and poker were constants. Dale is survived by his loving wife of over 38 years, Maria, children Nicole (Nick) and Christopher (Nicolette), sister Terry (Don), nephews Sean (Casey) and Curtis, step-siblings Scott (Sharon), Carol (Russ) and Patricia, in-law’s Helga (John), Martha (Armin) and Martin (Marian), nieces Jennifer (Bryce), Melissa (Ken), Mandi (Troy) and Mark, as well as countless others in his extended family. He was predeceased by his mother Elaine, father Gene, brother Allen, step-mother Shirley and step-brothers Glen, Craig, and Colin. His integrity, quick wit, sense of humour and fun-loving nature will be sorely missed, even more than his famous Caesar salad and ability to instantly add everyone’s dart scores with only a glance at the board. Dale always prioritized his family and friends above all else and was treasured by both in return. Dale’s family sincerely thanks everyone for their ongoing support. As per Dale’s request, there will not be a funeral but donations in memory of Dale Miller may be made directly to the Terry Fox Foundation, supporting a pan-Canadian project aiming to customize future pancreatic cancer treatments. In living memory of Dale Miller, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Crowfoot, 82 CROWFOOT CIRCLE N.W. CALGARY, AB, T3G 2T3, Telephone: 403-241-0044.
