1947 – 2018

Shirley Trockstad of Lethbridge passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at St. Michael’s Palliative Care. She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Bruce; children: Lisa (Jay) Deheer, David (Lana) Trockstad, and Margaret (Jim) Nilsson; grandchildren: Mitchell and Sydney Binding, Alex and Shayna Trockstad, Richard and Sarah Brantner, and Michaela and Mackenzie Nilsson. Shirley was predeceased by her parents: Sydney and Peggy Greenway; and baby sister, Darlene. Shirley was born in Swift Current, Saskatchewan. The family moved to Medicine Hat, Alberta when she was two years old. She was very active with her church youth group (HiC) at Westminster United Church all through her teens; and became a junior leader for Brownies. After marriage, Shirley and Bruce moved to Lethbridge. In later years, she was a leader in both Brownies and Beavers with her children. Shirley never missed a soccer or hockey game as her children grew. She had many jobs throughout the years, that she and her family were proud of. She did mostly secretarial jobs and was a realtor for some time. Shirley loved camping with her family. In later years, Shirley and Bruce spent many winters in Arizona; where they met many dear friends on both sides of the boarder. Shirley has some childhood friends that have stayed close all throughout her life. All the cards, prayers, and support Shirley received after the news of her cancer was overwhelming and greatly appreciated. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, July 23, 2018 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 – 4 Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta. Cremation has been entrusted to Martin Brothers Funeral Chapels. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice in Shirley’s name.
