LEGERE

MR. JOHN ALFRED LEGERE, beloved husband of Mrs. Jeannie Legere, and a long time resident of Lethbridge, passed away from complications due to a stroke, at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Friday, July 27, 2018 at the age of 78 years young.

John is survived by his wife of 55 years Jeannie Legere, son Brian Legere and family, daughter Karen Smith and son in-law Roger Smith, Grand children Curtis Smith and Eric Smith and great granddaughter Emma.

John was predeceased by his parents, Margaret Legere and Alfred Legere, sister Judy, brothers Jerry and Glen, brothers-in-law Matt Chuckrey and John Ruthven and mother and father in-law Edna and Albert Ruthven.

John was born on June 28, 1940, in Springhill, NS to Margaret Legere and Alfred Legere. John served in the Air Forces for 17 years, where he travelled the world living both in Germany and Italy during his service. He then moved on to work in sales with General Fasteners Ltd. John was also a member of the Shriners, the Masonic Lodge 39 and the Laurel Chapter #43 Order of the Eastern Star since 1982, and has been a long term member of the Legion since 1977.

John was loved by all and his infectious smile and beautiful blue eyes and charismatic personality will be sorely missed. Thank you to all for your thoughts and prayers during this time.

As per John’s request, there will be no funeral service. In memory and honour of John, feel free to have a rum. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, #100, 119 – 14 Street N.W., Calgary, AB, T2N 1Z6.
