WOOD, JeriPosted: September 6th, 2018
JERI (MARY GERALDINE) WOOD, beloved wife of Jim Wood, passed away peacefully in Lethbridge on August 31, 2018 at the age of 85 years. Jeri was born September 16, 1932 in Raymond Alberta to Jack and Idale (Lund) Kenney.
Jeri will be dearly missed by her husband Jim, and her 2 children: Cheryl (Bob) Bullock and Kenney (Julie) Wood. She will be lovingly remembered by her 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Jeri spent most of her childhood in Raymond and made many lifelong friends there. After high school she attended the LDS Business College in Salt Lake City, Utah and resided in the Beehive House. She worked in Idaho Falls for a time and then moved back to Alberta where she worked in Raymond, Cardston and then Edmonton as a Telephone Operator. In 1959 she met Jim Wood on a blind date and married later that year on September 18, 1959 in the Cardston Alberta Temple.
One year later their daughter Cheryl Lynn was born and then 3 years later, James Kenney. They moved to Lethbridge in 1965 and lived in the same home for 53 years. Jeri worked at the Lethbridge Jr. College for over 25 years and really enjoyed working with the people there. She served faithfully in many callings for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served with her husband Jim in the Cardston Temple for over 10 years.
She took great pleasure in knitting, cross stitching, chocolate making, shopping and was her grandchildren’s #1 sports fan, and if her grandchildren weren’t playing, you could still find her and Jim watching some game, somewhere.
“Gammy” as her grandchildren affectionately called her and as everyone else came to know her by, found her greatest joy being with, loving and supporting her family in all they did.
A Funeral Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, FORESTRY AVE CHAPEL, 4105 Forestry Ave S, Lethbridge, at 1:00pm Saturday, September 8, 2018.
Friends are welcome to meet with the family on Friday, September 7, 2018 from 7:00 to 8:00pm at SALMON AND SONS FUNERAL HOME, 433 Stubb Ross Road South (entrance to the airport) or prior to the service from 12:00 to 12:45pm at the church. The interment will take place at 9:00am Saturday morning in the Cardston Cemetery.
