Frances Wentz

1921 – 2018

Frances Josephine Wentz of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Benedict Wentz passed away peacefully at Chinook Regional Hospital on Friday October 5, 2018 at the age of 97. Frances is lovingly remembered by her children Daryl Wentz (Rita Holt) of Wrentham, Maureen (Frank) Suriano of Lethbridge; daughter in law Marianne Wentz of Pincher Creek; seven grandchildren David Wentz, Michelle (Robert) Nilsson, Derek (Marnie) Wentz, Renee Johnson (Craig Praskach), Jason (Jennifer) Suriano, Daniela (Raoul) Bhatt, Liana (Nikolas) Ledgerwood; thirteen great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; one sibling Florence (George) Thacker and one sister in law Jean Heck. Frances was born in Burdett, Alberta, on May 11, 1921 and attended Jasmine School west of the family farm. She met Ben Wentz at church and was married November 12, 1940 in a double ceremony with Anton and Helen Heck. She then moved with Ben to her father in laws farm south of Grassy Lake raising three children Dale, Daryl, and Maureen. In 1965 they moved to the village of Grassy Lake with Ben continuing to farm the family land. In 1978 they moved to Lethbridge for their retirement years. Frances was predeceased by her parents Andrew and Martha Volk; son Dale Wentz; daughter in law Debbie Wentz; granddaughter Lorianne Wentz; step mother Anna Marie Volk; siblings John Volk, Anna Mary Volk; twin brother Frank Volk, John Heck, Frank Heck, Anton Heck, Marjorie Ross, Marvin Volk as well as brother in laws & sister in laws. Thank you to the doctors and nurses at the Chinook Regional Hospital for their care and kindness. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Kidney Foundation. Vigil Rights (Prayers) service will be held at 7:00pm, on Friday, October 12, 2018 at MARTIN BROTHERS FUNERAL CHAPEL, 610 4 Street South, Lethbridge, led by Alice Takacs. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00am, on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at ALL SAINTS ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2405 12 Avenue South, Lethbridge, with Father Kevin Tumback celebrant.
