LOW

LaPriel Butler Low, age 85, returned to her heavenly home on Friday, October 26, 2018 after complications from a stroke she suffered on October 14th. Her devotion to her family and her strong faith supported her to the end. LaPriel was born on August 4, 1933 in Cardston, Alberta to Asael and Effie Butler. She grew up on her family’s farm in Hill Spring, Alberta and had many happy experiences there with her three brothers and one sister. She loved to ride horses, do gardening with her mother, and pick wildflowers. She enjoyed competing in basketball and played the saxophone in high school. After High School, LaPriel attended nursing school in Idaho Falls, Idaho where she earned her nursing license, and went on to be a nurse in many different capacities throughout her life, which was very fulfilling for her. LaPriel was blessed with a loving husband and family. She married Byron Y. Low in Cardston, Alberta on October 20, 1955 and they were blessed with 4 children- Shelly, Todd, Shannon and Desiree to whom they taught the values of faith, hard work and love for one another. She and Byron enjoyed 60 years of marriage before his passing in 2015. After 20 years living in the States, LaPriel and Byron returned home to Southern Alberta to raise their family close to their parents and extended relatives. LaPriel showed great pride taking care of her home and garden on the west side of Lethbridge for nearly 40 years. LaPriel was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints, serving faithfully in many callings and had a strong testimony that she shared with her family and others. She loved reading, gardening, taking care of animals and going to Waterton to hike in the mountains. She especially loved reading with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and watching good movies with her family. In her later years, she moved to Claresholm to be closer to her daughter Shelly. LaPriel will be deeply missed by her children, Shelly (Dennis) Hill, Todd (Robbie) Low, Shannon Low (Josh Heggie), Desiree (Jeremy) Harris, her 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers LeVerre, Sylvan, and Clinton Butler. The Funeral Service will be held in CLARESHOLM on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 11:00a.m. at the CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY-SAINTS- 4924-3rd Street East, Claresholm, Alberta. Friends and relatives may meet the family from 10:00a.m. to 10:45a.m. We invite all who knew her to join us as we celebrate her life. Lunch will follow. Interment will be in the Cardston Cemetery, Saturday afternoon following the service and lunch.
