GERTRUDE JEAN GALTS, beloved wife of Ken, of Coutts, passed away at the Milk River Health Centre on Saturday, October 27, 2018, at the age of 81 years.

Besides her loving husband, she is survived by her children Laurie (Bob) Hartley, Glen Galts, Noreen (Tom) Vavrek and Shannon Watson; ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; sister Merelyn (Mark) Harty and brother Norman Vornbrock.

Gert was predeceased by her brothers Richard (Wilma) and Norbert (Judy) Vornbrock and sister-in-law Joyce Vornbrock.

Gert was born on December 17, 1936 to Alma & Christian Vornbrock and grew up in Allerston on the family farm. In school, she excelled in basketball and track and field events. Gert was working in Milk River as a bank teller when she met Kenneth Galts in 1959. They were married on February 20, 1960 and started their family.

Through the years, Gert and Ken travelled for business and to preach the word of God in several countries and made friends far and wide.

Gert was very active in her community and loved being a member of the Border Rascals Seniors Club. She loved to keep busy gardening, canning, sewing, quilting, crocheting, painting, watching sports, and playing cards with the girls on Wednesday nights. She will be missed by many.

Gert loved her family and the Lord. She requested that any donations be made to the River of Life Fellowship, Box 476, Milk River, AB, T0K 1M0.

A Celebration of life will be held at the COUTTS CIVIC CENTRE, 305 Centre Ave., Coutts, AB, on Saturday, November 3, 2018, at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Keith Dangerfield officiating. Luncheon to follow celebration.
