O’DONNELL

EVA ALBERTA O’DONNELL, beloved wife of the late Elmer O’Donnell, passed away peacefully at the Fairmont Extendicare on Monday, March 4, 2019 at the age of 100 years.

Eva is the loving grandmother of Lynnette (Ed) Kalegaric of Lethbridge, Melanie (John) Beattie of Uxbridge, ON, Adena (Keith) Heppler of Warner and Martin (Roberta) O’Donnell of Warner. She is also lovingly remembered by her great- grandchildren: Jennifer (Clinton) and Anthony (Amanda) Kalegaric, Stefanie (Jon), Matt (Roxanne) and Samantha (Keith) Beattie, and Dylan, Holden and Zach Heppler, as well as one great-great-grandchild, Owen Kalegaric.

She was predeceased by her husband, Elmer (1992), her grandson, Gary (1996), her son-in-law, Russell (2000), her son, Earl (2003), her daughter-in-law, Vicki (2011) and her daughter, Evelyn (2017).

Eva was born Thursday, August 15, 1918 on a farm east of Warner to Harry & Dena Petersen. She loved growing up on a farm; in her words, “farming life was the best life.” As she grew older, she loved playing cards and spending time with her family. She taught herself to play piano and accordion, and she was an avid curler. She was also a life member of Royal Purple.

Similarly to many other centenarians, Eva’s secret to making it to 100 years old was simple – chocolate and beer.

A Service of Remembrance will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB on Friday, March 8, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. with Deacon Frank Peta officiating.

She will be laid to rest in Archmount Cemetery.
