MURPHY

With saddened hearts we would like to announce the passing of one very great lady. Bernice Luella Murphy (Pratt) of Granum AB. Born in Arborfield SK. September 24, 1941 passed away peacefully March 10, 2019 surrounded by family in the Claresholm General Hospital. Bernice, or Bunny as she preferred to be called, had lived a life that had taken her to places all over western Canada ; from places like the Thompson MB. nickel mine to golf and country clubs from Winnipeg MB. to Victoria BC. Through that time she became a professional chef/ baker and had worked in many high end facilities, the St James Golf and Country Club for one in Winnipeg MB. She retired from a long time career as a baker at the Cranbrook BC. Safeway. There she was regarded as one of the best cake decorators in the area and was asked often to privately bake and decorate unique one of a kind cakes. She took on these challenges head on and always came out on top. (She is the original cake boss in our minds). Full of fun and laughter she loved to be with family especially her grandchildren. Bunny with her husband Al (Papa) loved to go camping and having their grandchildren with them whenever they could. She would always go head and shoulders above to put on a family dinner and did so very often, laughter was always the first thing on the menu. Being surrounded by family is truly what she loved the most. She had the heart of a saint and would not pass by anyone who was in need. She was strong and had fire yet she always had a sense of humor, when asked how she felt she would always say “with my finger and my thumb”. She believed that you always had to keep a sense of humor in your pocket because you never knew when you would need it.

Bunny is survived by her daughter Sherry Odnokon of Calgary Alberta, Son Kyle (Cindy) Murphy/Quaife of Lethbridge Alberta and Son Shawn (Debra) Odnokon of Cranbrook British Columbia. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Brother and Sister in law Darrell (Shirley) Murphy, Trudy (Paul) Ollivier along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Bunny is predeceased by her Father Clarence (Pratt), Mom Sylvia (Niwranski), Son Lonnie (Odnokon) and her husband Allan( Murphy). There will be no funeral sevices for her at her request. A celebration of life will be done at a future date where her ashes will be laid where she has asked them to be. For details you can contact Shawn, Kyle or Sherry. Mom when you get to where you are going keep bitchin and kickin we will all be along eventually and look forward to seeing you again.

The family would also like to thank the nurses, volunteers and Dr. Smith at the Claresholm General Hospital for their amazing care of our mom. (I am sorry to say you will have to buy your own pizza now. We hope you enjoyed them as much as mom enjoyed buying them for you. It brought her so much joy to do that). We would also like to thank two very special ladies. Aunt Shirley, who was by Mom’s side from the beginning. Taking her to appointments, picking up anything Mom needed, visiting her at her home in Granum and visiting her in the hospital every day. Also Aunt Nancy who spent 23 days in the hospital with mom 24/7 not one complaint always smiling and helping the staff tend to Mom’s care. She made Mom’s last days bearable by being there when we could not. Mom loved you two very much and appreciated everything you both had done for her. For you two ladies this family cannot thank you enough. Both of you are true inspirations of what it means to have family.

So from the bottom of our hearts

Thank you.

Shawn Odnokon, Kyle Murphy, Sherry Odnokon and family
