STRYKER

STANLEY JOSEPH STRYKER, beloved husband of Wanda Stryker, of Coaldale, passed away peacefully from amyloidosis at the St. Michael’s Health Centre – Palliative Care Unit on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at the age of 69 years.

Stan was born in Medicine Hat to Glen & Rose Stryker. He was raised in Orion.

He worked for Glen Little Construction prior to starting his own business, Stryker Construction, which he owned and operated for 38 years. Stan really enjoyed his work and the people he met.

He married Wanda Hoyt on July 13, 1974 in Lethbridge. They lived in Coaldale for 45 years where they had two children, Candace and Tim. When Stan retired a couple of years ago, he and Wanda purchased a home in Yuma, AZ. Their time in Yuma quickly became his passion, as well as RC car racing. He loved camping with his family and working in the yard.

Stan & Wanda went on Alaskan, Caribbean and Panamanian cruises, as well as a few trips to Hawaii. He enjoyed traveling and had a playful and adventurous spirit.

Stan will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his wife, Wanda, his daughter, Candace Stryker, his son, Tim Stryker, his brothers, Alfred Stryker (Wendy Dreger) and Willy (Gladys) Stryker, his sisters-in-law, Deb Turnbull (Wally Chesko), Brenda (Rob) Taylor, Colleen Hoyt (Ken Babick), plus many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, Glen & Rose Stryker and his parents-in-law, Bill & Joyce Hoyt.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you for the amazing care provided at both the Chinook Regional Hospital ICU and St. Michael’s Palliative Care Unit.

A Celebration of Stan’s Life will be held at MCKILLOP UNITED CHURCH, 2329 – 15 Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Terry Shillington officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Stan’s memory can be made to a charity of your choice.
