DUDNYK

Age does not change emotions or feelings. Age changes things you can or cannot do. Life is joy and sorrow.

EILEEN DUDNYK (nee Richmond) passed away in Lethbridge, AB, on Saturday, June 29, 2019.

Surviving Eileen are her two daughters, Sonia (David) Rynenberg, of Lethbridge, and Katrina (Russ) Erdos, of New Westminster; five grandchildren, Julia, Joanna (Logan), Stephanie, Meghan and Liam, and five great-grandchildren, Caleb, Tyler, Adria, Zac and Bronwyn. Also surviving Eileen is her sister, Valerie Terry, of Newark, Nottinghamshire, England, and Valerie’s two sons, David (Val) and Graham (Sara).

She was predeceased by her husband, Jurij, in December 1993.

Eileen was born on February 9, 1929 in Newark, Nottinghamshire, England and immigrated to Canada, arriving in Lethbridge in August 1970. Eileen moved to Calgary in 1988 and was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion #1, where she made numerous friends, and frequently attended dances. Ever a free spirit, in 2009 Eileen decided it was time for a new adventure and relocated to New Westminster, enjoying many visits to the beach, and walks along the Fraser River. She also had a daily morning routine visit to her local Starbucks, where she made a new group of friends, read the Globe and Mail from cover to cover, and completed the daily crossword.

Wherever she was living or even visiting on holidays, Eileen had a special ability to make new friends. She will be remembered for her sense of humour and infectious laughter.

Always one for adventure, Eileen took numerous trips back to the UK, often travelling by herself. She just loved to get on a train on the spur of the moment, and during one of her visits, took the train from the north of Scotland, to the southernmost tip of England, Penzance, in Cornwall. Hawaii, and it’s beautiful beaches, also held a special place in her heart, especially the island of Kauai.

Due to declining health in 2015, Eileen returned to Lethbridge, residing firstly at Garden View Lodge and then Legacy Lodge, where she resided until her passing.

Eileen’s family would like to thank the doctors and nurses on the 4th floor Medical unit at Chinook Regional Hospital and the staff at Legacy Lodge for their kindness, compassion, and the wonderful care she received there.

Eileen’s family would like to invite friends to share their memories of Eileen at an informal Celebration of Life at Sonia’s Residence, 1315 St. Arthur Road North, Lethbridge, AB, on Saturday, July 6, 2019 from 3:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M.
