JEAN BAPTISTE SEVIGNY, age 91, of Lethbridge passed away peacefully and surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, November 10, 2019.

Jean was born on October 28, 1928 on the family farm in Chauvin to Arthur and Jeanne Sevigny.

Jean is lovingly remembered by his wife of 63 years, Victoria, his nine children and their spouses, 22 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren, as well as his brother, Laurent.

Jean is predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Jeanne, his sister, Juliette, his brother, Philip, his grandson, Jared and his daughter-in-law, Phyllis.

Jean and Victoria and their nine children lived on the family farm until 1974 when they moved to Grand Centre. Jean worked for the town public works department for 20 years. After his retirement in 1994, Jean and Victoria moved to Taber, followed by their final move to Lethbridge.

Jean loved to watch Stampede Wrestling, enjoyed camping as well as fishing with family and friends. In his later years he enjoyed playing solitaire on the computer and he was always up to a good game of cribbage.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ST. BASIL’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 604 – 13 Street North, Lethbridge, AB on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. with Father Albert Sayson celebrating.

Jean will be laid to rest at Mountain View Cemetery.

    I am so sorry to hear of your loss .

    I have some fond memories growing up in Grand Center getting the gears from Mr. Sevigny for one thing or another, but it was always with a joking smile / smirk on his face when he did it. If it wasn’t “get a haircut” it was “when are you going to put some mufflers on that truck”.

    Jean was a good man.

    I’m glad to have known him.

    My thoughts are with you all.
