Lorraine Webb

1936 – 2019

Lorraine left us peacefully on Tuesday, November 26th, 2019 at St. Michael’s Health Care Centre, two months to the day before her 84th Birthday. Lorraine graduated in 1957 from St. Boniface School of Nursing in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and within days of graduating, she married her sweetheart, Pat. In 1964, Pat and Lorraine moved their young family to Lethbridge where Mom devoted her next 10 years to raising us. In 1972, she resumed her nursing career on a casual basis at St. Michael’s Hospital, and the Auxiliary Hospital until she retired in 1993. In her retirement years, Lorraine enjoyed the peace and quiet of her back yard and puttering in her garden. She always took great joy in being surrounded by her family for various celebrations, relaxing on the deck at the Villa in Fairmont Hot Springs and enjoying her “surreal” view of the mountains. Her presence will be so deeply missed. She leaves behind her children, Barb Schandor (Dave), Don Webb, and Jon Webb (Elizabeth); granddaughter Hayley Schandor; sister Carol Low (Alan); nephews Aaron and Stephen Low; sister in law Kay McDowell and nephew Michael McDowell. Lorraine was predeceased by her parents Fred and Stephanie Turman, one brother and one sister, husband Patrick Webb, and nephew Richard McDowell. The family would like to thank Dr. Imbulgoda, Dr. Oviatt, Dr. Walsh and her Palliative Care team; the Home Care Team, Dan and Team at Save On Foods Pharmacy, and especially the wonderful Nurses and staff at St. Michael’s Care Centre for all their care, kindness and compassion during Lorraine’s journey. In keeping with Lorraine’s wishes, a private family Celebration of Life will take place in the Spring on a warm sunny day. Flowers are gratefully declined. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Covenant Health Foundation; email ben.kwan@covenanthealth.ca, or a charity of one’s choice. Cremation has been entrusted to Martin Brothers Funeral Chapels.
