It is with extremely heavy hearts we announce the passing of our dear Shelley as a result of a freak accident (fall) in her garage.
Shelley is survived by her loving husband, Pat and sons Spencer, Kaden, Zane and Mylan as well as her mother Sherri (George) Brother Cam children Brandon (Marisol), Connor (Cathy) – Quinn, Everly, Elizabeth Ashley (Stan) – Sawyer; Dallin (Jessica); Brother Roger (Val); Mother-in-law Sandra and father-in-law Leo (Donna) Brother-in-law Robin (Camila) – Nina; Sister-in-law Jody (Derek) – Jane and Hannah.
Shelley was born on March 28, 1967 in Lethbridge, Alberta, to Joe and Sherri Mandel. She was the youngest of three children. Shelley grew up in Warner, Alberta, attending Elementary and Jr. High in Warner and High School in Raymond, Alberta. She also studied at the University of Lethbridge.
On June 24, 1995 Shelley married the love of her life, Pat Schroh.
Together they welcomed four wonderful sons, of whom she was incredibly proud. Shelley was a devoted wife, and mother – the health and happiness of her husband and boys were her priority.
Shelley has touched so many lives through her sheer energy, her tireless fight for what she felt was right and her immediate willingness to help anyone. She considered everyone to be family, opening her home to neighbours, friends, relatives and all of her beloved dogs. Her generosity and commitment to serving others can stand as an example for all.
Through Shelley’s ultimate contribution as an organ donor, numerous lives have been saved or extended.

A celebration of Shelley’s life will be held on Saturday, December 14, 1 pm at: Foundations for the Future Charter Academy (FFCA) South Middle School 8710 Ancourt Rd SE, Calgary. Shelley loved purple, she was Ms. Purple so please wear purple.
Dearest Pat; I so loved working with Shelley at Citizen Advocacy and getting to know you both while you were courting and eventually married. She was an “old Soul” with so much compassion for people especially those with disabilities; I’m sure she was a great mom to your son’s and a wonderful companion to you. May God bless you and your family during this most difficult time.

It seems impossible that Shelley will not turn up every now and then at our school. She was the very spirit of FFCA. Much as Mrs. Purple was loved and appreciated, it is true that, “You don’t know what you’ve got ‘til it’s gone.” Love to all of you. May time be kind to your hearts.
