Lily Campbell

1940 – 2019

Lily Campbell of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Frederick Keith Campbell, passed away peacefully at Good Samaritans West Highlands on Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at the age of 79 years. We will miss her but celebrate that she is finally with her true love Fred, who was her husband of 53 years. Fred was Lily’s knight in shining amour and did everything to make her smile. Lily was born in Strasburg, Saskatchewan on January 27, 1940 to Olaf and Ethel Hansen. Lily married her childhood sweetheart, Fred Campbell an RCMP member on October 13, 1961 in Strasburg, Saskatchewan. Lily was a dedicated wife and mother and she treasured her four children and embraced every single moment with them. She especially loved her role as grandma to nine grandchildren and loved being around her family. Lily used to say how lucky her and Fred were to have all these young people to love. Lily loved babies and got to meet her great granddaughter Merritt before her passing. Lily was highly skilled with knitting and crocheting; she made every house she was in a true home and loved her yard full of flowers and plants. She wrote a book about her life and said her greatest joy and miracle was her family. Mom, your memory will live with us all and we will lead our lives by your example of kindness, compassion and care. We will carry on family traditions because we know how much family mattered to you and we will let your love for us be our guide. Special thanks to Lily’s sister Linda who spent so much time with her especially in the last few years when she needed it most, thank you Auntie for your love and support.

Lily was predeceased by her husband Fred Campbell. She is survived by her children Rob Campbell, Decca Mae Jacobsen (Matthew), Cliff Campbell (Darci) and Alida Campbell-Nygaard (Randy); grandchildren Cherilyn Bexte (Brent), Derek Jacobsen (Ashlee), Dayna Kroening (Bob), Cordell Campbell, Chaise Campbell, Carson Campbell, Cruz Campbell, Dior Campbell, and Taylor Bourett (Matt); great grandchild Merritt Bexte; sister Linda Huber and nephew Devin Huber. A private family Graveside Service will be held. Flowers are gratefully declined. For those who wish, memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation are welcome, 119 14 St NW #200, Calgary, AB T2N 1Z6.
