GREVE

1933 – 2020

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of LIONEL OSBORNE GREVE, on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at the age of 86 years. We mourn the loss of our dear husband, father and grandfather who died peacefully at the Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge, after a courageous three year battle with pulmonary fibrosis.

Lionel was the devoted husband of 59½ years of Jennifer MacFarlan Greve, the proud and loving father of Denise Millen and Michelle Greve, both of Toronto, and the beloved grandfather of Spencer Millen, presently living in Brisbane, Australia, and Jennifer Millen of Toronto, Ontario. He will be deeply missed by his family, relatives and friends who gave greatly appreciated caring support during his lengthy illness.

Lionel was born in Ferozupur, India, on February 28, 1933. The youngest of twelve children, he is survived by only one sibling, an older brother, Bertie Greve, who resides in India. His father worked for the Railways so Lionel had the opportunity to travel widely in Asia. In 1957, he met his one true love and life companion, Jennifer. They married in London on October 8, 1960. They soon started a family with the arrival of a daughter, Denise. In 1963, they decided to immigrate to Canada and settled in Lethbridge where their second daughter, Michelle, was born.

Lionel was a skilled and conscientious welder and enjoyed working for fifteen years with Noble Cultivators until the firm closed, and then ten years with Haul-All Equipment Ltd. until his retirement. A skilled carpenter, he spent many creative and enjoyable hours with his friends in the Carpentry Club at the Lethbridge Senior Citizens Organization.

Lionel often said that he led a charmed and contented life filled with an abundance of love and happiness with his dear family and many relatives and friends. After the trials of his last three years, we are grateful that he is now at peace in his heavenly home, reunited with the members of his family who have gone before him.

A Celebration of Life will be held at ST. AUGUSTINE’S ANGLICAN CHURCH, 411 – 11 Street South, Lethbridge, AB, on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at 1:00 P.M. with Canon James Robinson officiating.
