Boyd Tucker

1930 – 2020

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Bidwell Boyd Tucker, who passed away on February 10, 2020 at the age of 89 years. Boyd was born in Punnichy, Saskatchewan and attended the University of Saskatchewan where he studied Pharmacy. Boyd moved to Lethbridge, Alberta in 1961 and opened Boyd’s Pharmacy which he operated for 25 years. Boyd was a true entrepreneur at heart and also invested in, and ran, numerous other business ventures. Boyd believed in hard work, respect and gratitude which was obvious in all his interactions with colleagues, customers, friends and family. He was very athletic and pushed himself to perform at every sport he enjoyed. He loved skiing, golf and curling and he excelled at all of those. Boyd was an active member of many local organizations. He was curious at heart which led to a great deal of travel with his wife, Shirley, the last adventure of which was Hong Kong and mainland China. Boyd loved his family deeply and was tremendously proud of all their accomplishments. Boyd will be lovingly remembered by his wife and partner of 59 years, Shirley Ann Tucker (née Wagness), and his children Trent Tucker, Brad Tucker and Dana Tucker and her husband Jack Tavares. He will also be missed by his grandchildren Callahan Tucker, Grayson Tucker and Zia Tucker; his surviving sister Elaine Tucker; sister-in-law Jean Schmitt (née Wagness) and her husband Ray Schmitt, and his numerous nieces and nephews. Boyd’s family is forever grateful to the staff of unit 4B of the Lethbridge Regional Hospital, and the staff of St. Michaels Palliative Care Centre, and would like to thank them for the kind and respectful care that he received. Boyd was given the gift of life and has now bravely given it back. He has requested we have a Celebration of Life ceremony that will be held at 11:00am, on Tuesday, June 2, 2020, at MCKILLOP UNITED CHURCH, 2329 15 Ave S, Lethbridge, AB T1K 0X5, so that those who loved him can honor the man that he was and the joy he brought to all of us. Flowers are gratefully declined. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to St. Michael’s Palliative Care Centre, 1400 9 Ave S, Lethbridge, AB T1J 4V5, or Jack Ady Cancer Centre Lethbridge, 960 19 St S, Lethbridge, AB T1J 1W5. Cremation has been entrusted to Martin Brothers Funeral Chapels.
