William “Peter” Palmer

1941 – 2020

Mr. William “Peter” Palmer of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Donna Palmer, passed away after a brief illness on Saturday May 23, 2020 at the age of 78 years.

Peter was born June 10, 1941 in Rose Valley, Saskatchewan. He moved to Edmonton with his family in 1956 where he finished high school. He then attended the University of Alberta where he received his Bachelor of Arts Degree and Master of Education Degree in Educational Psychology.

As a certified psychologist, Peter worked for ten years for Lethbridge School District 51 and then pursued a career in private practice assessing students in Southern Alberta. He also developed an adult counselling practice before retiring in 2015. Peter loved his work and was in the right profession as a compassionate and caring person. He showed trust, acceptance and empathy for all people and circumstances and was highly regarded in the community.

Peter enjoyed camping, travelling, reading, jazz, barbecuing, spending time at the ocean, especially on Vancouver Island. He had a keen sense of humour and enjoyed talking to people.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years Donna (Roxburgh) Palmer, his daughter Erin Palmer, brothers-in-law Nat Mitenko, Ken Roxburgh (Louella), and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He will also be missed by many dear friends.

He was predeceased by his son Cory Palmer, sister Mary Mitenko, parents Ruby and Bill Palmer, mother-in-law Hettie Roxburgh Blades.
