FRANCIS SCOUT, beloved husband of Evelyn Scout was called to the creator at the age of 78, on Friday June 12th 2020 in Fort MacLeod, Alberta. Francis is survived by his beloved wife Evelyn of 56 years, his daughters Kirtsy Scout, Lori (Darren) Scout, and Tatum (Blaise) Bastien. His grandchildren; Frank Jr. (Sharlee), Craig, Riley, Theoren, Mikaela, Trenedy, Sharmayne. Phoenix, Raegan, Marlo, and Ronin. Great grandchildren; Rhyle and Piper Rue. His brothers and sisters Lucius (Pam) Wadsworth, Stan (Joanne) Scout, Roy (Nora) Scout, Elizabeth Scout, Kathleen McHugh, Christine (Ray) Vaivada. Rosie Many Grey Horses, Sister and brother in-laws Clara Healy, Gilbert (Velma) Eagle Bear, Audrey Eagle Bear, Marsha (Merlin) Provost, and Anita (Randy) Eagle Bear.

Francis attended the St. Mary’s Residential School on the Blood Indian Reservation, Francis also studied Agricultural Management at Olds College in Central Alberta. Francis enjoyed working around his community over the years, he spent time in Fort Macleod working at both the Plywood Factory and the American Hotel as a bartender. From there he attended the Lethbridge Community College and studied in the Business Administration program. Francis was successful at everything he tried his hand at, but his real enjoyment in life was his rodeo career as a team roper. Francis enjoyed roping with everyone that he roped with, he especially enjoyed roping with his late son Frankie. In 1990 Francis began his career at the Blood Tribe Fire Hall in Standoff, Alberta where he worked proudly as an EMT and Ambulance driver until his retirement in 2011. Francis also worked for the Blood Tribe as a Ranch manager overseeing both the Band Ranch and the Maataak Farm. His love for Ranching and Rodeo continued throughout his life as he continued to run cattle with his family until his passing. He was also a member of the Blood Reserve Land Dispute Panel until his passing. Francis and his wife would be easy to find at Pow Wows and gatherings visiting with friends and family, or at the many rodeos they attended watching their grandson Frank Jr roping. His love for his family was always present at gatherings and celebrations he was always there showing his support and love with his stories and laughter, he enjoyed the company of his friends as well and always looking to make new friends wherever he went. He was very proud of his children and enjoyed talking about them as well as all his grandchildren and great grandchildren who were the joy in his life. Francis was a library of history and stories of his community and enjoyed sharing them whenever he could. His presence will be greatly missed as he was a positive role model to his family and his community.

Francis is predeceased by his late son Frank Scout, his parents Frank Scout and Myrtle (Blackwater). Great grandfather Bob Tailchief and his wife Issikamosaki, grandparents Helen and Henry Blackwater, Mary Blackwater, siblings Melvin Wadsworth, Joe Scout, Keivan Scout, twins Jane Scout, and Genevieve Scout.

A Wake Service will be held at Legacy Funeral Home, Cardston, Alberta on Sunday, June 21st from 4:00 – 8:00 pm. A Viewing will be held on Monday, June 22nd from 9:30 – 11:00 with a Family Service to follow at 11:00 am.(Due to COVID-19 restrictions a limited number will be allowed into the service at a time, must be willing to wear a mask).
