STABS DOWN

Our beloved DESIREE ZOE ANN STABS DOWN, 37, died Friday (June 12, 2020), in Lethbridge, Alberta. While her death was unexpected, Desiree suffered from addictions. Sadly our worst fear of her addiction has claimed her life. She was born April 4, 1983 in St. Michael’s Hospital Lethbridge Alberta daughter of Leona Stabs Down and the late Edward Patrick Healy. She was mother of two daughter’s. Her oldest Peyton Sancia Joy Stabs Down – Iron Shirt, (recently deceased at fourteen years old) and her twenty-eight months old baby Fallon Riley Stabs Down.

Zoe loved her family, but more than anyone else, she loved her daughters Peyton and Fallon. She transformed her life whenever she could to mother her daughters even though there were circumstances with her addiction that would dominate the rest of her life. She loved music, enjoyed food especially her mother’s home cooking. Zoe was adored as a daughter, sister, cousin, friend and mother. Her mom’s pride and joy always encouraging her to better herself unfortunately she made the wrong choices during the last 13 years that brought her to places of incredible darkness which led to her unfortunate departure. Now she will be with her beloved daughter Peyton and father Tinyman she missed both so dearly. Zoe will no longer endure the harm brought on her the last 13 years she struggled with it and Zoe needed and deserved our empathy. Leona will sadly miss her beautiful daughter, her delightful smile, and the other attributes of Zoe were being a considerate person, caring, respectful, courteous and understanding of everyone she met and bonded with. Life will surely not be the same without our Zoe!

Zoe was a petite young lady with a big heart and smile that always lighten up a gloomy day. She had beautiful brown eyes and had brunette hair and sometimes had black hair, a great mom and a wonderful person. Because Zoe was warm, fearless, and resilient, she could and would talk to anyone, whether young or old. Her mom often told her, “Don’t be too friendly, especially to guys who may take your friendliness the wrong way”. When they did. We take comfort in knowing that Zoe is surrounded by light, free from the struggle that haunted her. Our family is saddened to the core by her loss.

Her youth years of education were at various schools where she lived on and off the Blood Reserve when her family moved to Edmonton, then Calgary, eventually to Fort Macleod, and finally at Lethbridge Community College. Also in her teen years she enjoyed playing the game of basketball. With her extroverted personality she was a successful employee at Igloo Drive-In, Scarlet & Gold Restaurant, and Blood Tribe Potato Farms, Carpentry finisher/detailer, also served at The Commissary (Calgary Stampede), Grey Eagle Casino and Peace Hill Trust in Calgary as a Representative/Clerk.

Those left to cherish her memories include her mother Leona, daughter Fallon, her older sister Susan Leigh Stabs Down (Franklin P.B.), her beloved nephew Darian (Allison Cayanne) Stabs Down, nieces Madison, Nicole, Aseyla, Astrasia; Uncles Harry and Billy; Aunties Nora, Evelyn (Hank), Lena (Newton) Bull Shields, Myrna, and Isabel Healy. Desiree will also be remembered by many beautiful cousins and extended family and numerous friends. Other Uncle Dexter Healy and Aunt Joyce Healy and their families.

She is predeceased by grandparents Fred and Agnes (nee Red Crow) Stabs Down, Ed and Frances (nee Eagle Child) Healy; her uncles Melvin (Wallace) Stabs Down and Clinton Healy.

A Viewing will be held at Legacy Funeral Home, Cardston on Saturday, June 20th from 9:30 – 11:00 am with a Funeral Service to follow at 11:00 am. Interment will be in One Spot Cemetery, Old Agency.
