1927 – 2020
Mr. Pieter Meliefste of Langley, BC, beloved husband of the late Cornelia Meliefste, passed away peacefully from this earth to be with his heavenly Father on July 24, 2020, at the age of 92 after a short stay in the Langley Memorial Hospital.
Born in Middelburg, the Netherlands, Pieter immigrated to Canada with his young bride, Cornelia, in 1951. They made their home in the Lethbridge and Coaldale area, and raised their six children there.
Pieter was an involved member of his church, school, and broader community. He served as an elder in his church for many years, sat on the local Christian school board, was a member of the Coaldale town council as well as the Barons-Eureka Health Unit.
Pieter is survived by his six children—Corny, Inga, Francis, Gerald, Linda, and Frank—by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as two sisters and a brother in the Netherlands.
A Memorial Service was held for Pieter on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at the Langley Canadian Reformed Church; Pastor Doug Vandeburgt officiated.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 am, on Friday, July 31, 2020 at MOUNTAIN VIEW CEMETERY in Lethbridge, AB.
