GRISACK

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our beloved mother and grandmother, HAZEL MARGARET GRISACK, who passed away Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at the age of 94 at St. Therese Villa, with family by her side.

Hazel was born in Lethbridge, Alberta on February 25, 1926. She was the only daughter of six children born to Joseph and Mary (Seaman) Pisko. Hazel was predeceased by her parents, husband and siblings: Clarence, Andrew, Leonard and Peter.

As a young woman, Hazel worked at Kresge’s for five years, where she made many good friends. Hazel then married her beloved husband John Grisack on June 26, 1948 and had two sons Robert and Richard. They resided at the Animal Diseases Research Institute where Hazel worked for 25 years as a lab technician in the Brucellosis lab until retiring as Supervisor in 1987.

During retirement Hazel and John enjoyed travelling with their dear friends and Hazel took up several hobbies becoming very well known for her excellent cake decorating and chocolate making. She also had an incredible vegetable and flower garden.

Hazel loved her family deeply and was kind and very generous to all. Her home was a meeting place for friends and family who enjoyed her wonderful cooking especially haluski, pagach and cabbage rolls.

Hazel will be sadly missed by her son Robert (Lynn) of Calgary and their children Adam (Meaghan) and Miles (Shelby), son Richard (Brenda) of Vancouver and their children Caitlin (Tolan) and Chelsea (Colby). She also leaves behind her brother Stan (Joan) Pisko of Lethbridge and several nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

A special thank-you to Louisa Van Buuren for her friendship and support of Mom, particularly these past five years.

A Funeral Mass will be held at ST. BASIL’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 604 – 13 St. N, Lethbridge, AB on Saturday, October 17, 2020 at 10:00 AM with Father Derek Remus celebrating.

A Private Family Graveside Service will follow in Mountain View Cemetery.
