BRECKA

MARIE BRECKA passed away peacefully at the Hythe Pioneer Home on Sunday, October 11, 2020, at the age of 95 years.

Marie was born in Kostice, Czechoslovakia, on January 15, 1925, and immigrated to Canada with her special family in 1928. She received most of her education in Raymond, AB. In 1948 she married her loving and devoted husband, Frank Brecka. They resided in Cranford, AB, until they moved to the Readymade area in 1950, where they farmed and raised their family. They lived there until 1990, when they moved to Lethbridge, AB. In 2011, Marie moved to Beaverlodge, AB, to be closer to her daughter.

Marie enjoyed working in her huge garden, tending to her flowers, and the many fishing expeditions shared with her husband. Many will remember enjoying her baking and pastries.

She is survived by her daughter Jean (Cor) Van Dyk and their children: Brenton Van Dyk, and Jennifer (Zaeus) Coulic; great-grandchildren: Zaiden, Zenaya, and Zaely; Michelle Cronkhite; Tyler (Tenille) Cronkhite; great-grandchildren: Maizey, Dayton, Slade, and Coy; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and their families.

Marie was predeceased by her loving husband Frank Brecka; daughter Betty Ann Cronkhite; special family parents Frank and Annastazia Trcka; special sisters Hellen Pavlis and Marie R. Kubik; and special brothers Victor and John Trcka.

Marie will be sadly missed by her family and all that knew her.
