BESSEM

SIMONNE MARIA BESSEM, beloved wife of the late Henry Bessem, passed away peacefully at Chinook Regional Hospital on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at the age of 92 years.

Besides her loving daughter Marie (Jake), Simonne is survived by her granddaughter, Carey-Ann (Michial) Van Es of Powell River, BC; her grandson, Graham Hooge of Edmonton; and three great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Samual and Matthew Van Es, all of Powell River, BC. She is also survived by two nieces, Wendy Liebel of Vernon, BC and Brenda Ross of Regina, SK, and one nephew, Steven Vanryckeghem of Campbell River, BC.

Simonne was born on January 22, 1928 in Rouselare, West Flanders, Belgium to Arciles & Martha Vanryckeghem. The family emigrated to Canada in 1950 and, nine months later, Simonne married the love of her life—Henry Bessem. They lived in Stirling until 1965. Simonne worked in the sugar beets for many seasons. Upon retiring to Lethbridge, Mom & Dad enjoyed many happy years together, especially while camping in Glacier Park and Kalispell.

Mom will be remembered for her bright spirit and love of her family. At her request, there will be no funeral, but a graveside service will take place in the springtime in Stirling.

In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to Diabetes Canada at www.diabetes. ca/donate.
