Norma Bosman

1943 – 2020

Norma Jean Bosman (Lyckman), surrounded by her loving family passed away peacefully at St. Michael’s Health Centre on November 28, 2020 at the age of 77 years.

Norma was born in Carmangay, Alberta, the first child of Raymond Arthur Lyckman and Hilda Lyckman (Stockwell). She graduated from the Lethbridge Collegiate Institute (LCI) in 1961.

After a six-year courtship with her high-school sweetheart, she married Henry and turned it into a 56-year loving partnership. In 1965 they moved to the Trail, B.C region where their daughters were born. On return trips home to visit the Lyckman and Bosman grandparents, Norma, a true prairie girl, would rejoice when Pincher Creek came into view and she could “stretch her eyeballs” since the mountains and trees were finally out of the way.

After moving back to Lethbridge, Norma’s volunteer and business pursuits highlighted her caring nature, ingenuity, and sewing skills. She was an owner and partner in Knitting Time and an active member of the Lethbridge Business and Professional Women’s Association. She volunteered for some 30 years with the Family History Centre and for many years at St. Michael’s hospital where she was honored with the Silver Spoon award. Norma particularly enjoyed sharing her many gifts with her daughters and granddaughters.

Norma was predeceased by her parents and her husband Henry.

She is survived by her brother Warren Lyckman; daughters Laura Bosman (Jim Ling) of Houston, Texas, and Diane Bosman (Paul Bognar) of Toronto, Ontario; two granddaughters Rachel and Amanda Ling.
