Gene Lyon

1944 – 2020

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Gene Darrell Lyon announce his passing on Friday, December 4, 2020 after a short battle with cancer.

Gene is survived by his siblings: Judy Zimmel of Wetaskiwin, Alberta, Harold (Donna) of Kelowna, BC, Gordon (Yvonne) of Carmangay, Alberta, Susan Lyon (Lyn) of Head Chezzetcook, Nova Scotia and Wade (Lynn) of Ottawa, Ontario. Gene is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents Lloyd and Lily Lyon and his sister Sandra Ulevog.

Gene spent his life in Barons, Alberta, except for the last year and a half when he moved to Piyami Lodge in Picture Butte. He loved farm life whether raising sheep or seeding in the spring and bringing in the harvest in the fall. Perhaps he was happiest camping, hunting and fishing in the hills west of Claresholm and the surrounding area.

Thank you to the staff at Piyami Lodge for looking after Gene so well and also thank you to the staff at Chinook Regional Hospital for their compassionate care of our brother for the last few weeks of his life.

A Memorial Mass will take place at on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at ALL SAINTS ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH, Lethbridge, Alberta with Father Derek Remus, celebrant.

Due to the restrictions surrounding Covid-19, the service will be invitation only. If you wish to attend, please contact Gordon at 403-643-2512.
