Chester Obadiah “Obie” Earl Archibald Ferris

August 2, 1982 – February 16, 2021

It is with profound grief and shock that we announce the sudden passing of Chester Obadiah “Obie” Ferris on Tuesday February 16, 2021 at the age of 38 years.

Obie was raised in Glenwood, Alberta. Except for a few short periods of time working or attending school elsewhere, he spent his life in Southern Alberta.

Obie was always up for an adventure and delighted in trying new things. He loved golfing and hiking, going to concerts with his friends, and he spent many summer days floating down the river with his kids and his friends. Obie worked hard his whole life, and though he never settled into one career, he enjoyed all of the different and various occupations he worked. Whether he was helping build or renovate houses, working concrete with the ‘Tollestrup Crew’, flying helicopters or, as in recent years, working on the McGlenn family farm, he could find the fun and the interesting in everything he did. But the truest joy he found in life was and always will be embodied in his four children.

Obie leaves behind his devoted wife Lacey (McGlenn), and their four children: Zona, Izack, Saphira and Kingston. He will be loved and missed by his parents, Brenda and Chester “Sonny” Ferris, his sisters Brenester “Brandie” (Greg) Sunley, nephew Jerrick and niece Gabriella; and Chessenda (Ryan) Harty; as well as his in-laws: June and Robert McGlenn, Jennifer (Edward) Pollard, and Meagan (Jared) Abrams, and their families.

He is also mourned by his half-siblings Hugh Ferris; Bill (Bridget) Swagar and their children Seranda and Reid; Tammie (Calvin) Haczkewicz and her children William (Ashley) Kiselicka and Patrick Kiselicka; Colleen (Bob) Ekland-Swagar and their children Garth and Kieran; and Steven (Sandra) Smith and their children Cheyanne, Kelsey and Courtney.

Obie will forever be fondly remembered by his numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and many, many friends.

He was predeceased by his grandparents Earl and May Archibald, Chester Ferris, and Helen Howe, his aunt Judy Archibald, and his cousin Craig Alan Archibald. Right now, he’s very likely raising a glass with his best friend Jared “Joe” Carmichael while the two of them make plans to watch over us all for all the years to come.

Family and Friends are invited to call Martin Brothers Funeral Chapels at 403.328.2361 to book a time to see Obie on Monday, February 22, 2021 between 4:00pm and 8:00pm at the MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 – 4 Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta.

A Private Service will be held at 11:00 A.M., on Tuesday, February 23, 2021. The family invites those who wish to view the livestream at https://www.fhwebsites.org/YMB/obituary/CHESTEROBADIAHOBIE EARLARCHIBALD-FERRIS and scrolling to the bottom of the obituary.

In lieu of flowers, his wife and family request donations may be made in Obie’s name to: McMan Youth, Family and Community Services (www.mcmansouth.ca) or Moms Stop The Harm www.momsstoptheharm.com).

One Condolence for “FERRIS, Chester Obadiah “Obie” Earl Archibald”

  1. Deborah Yawney says:

My sincerest condolences to your family at this difficult time. It is always difficult to lose those we love but I believe it is especially so when they are so young. Zona was a student of mine at Catholic Central and I was impressed with her wisdom, compassion and maturity; gifts she developed no doubt as a result of loving, caring parents who offered much guidance in her life. Please know that I am with you in spirit during this difficult time.
    Mrs. Yawney
