CHRISTENSEN

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of LOIS JEAN (MEHEW) CHRISTENSEN early Sunday morning, March 21, 2021. Jean was born on May 5, 1930 to Leonard and Myrtle Mehew, the oldest of the children in her family. Being the oldest in a family of nine children, she acquired a work ethic at an early age and viewed hard work and service to be a wonderful characteristic. She married Doug Christensen on March 19, 1952 and he was the love of her life. It is equally important to note that she was his true love as well. Their love inspired their children each day. She was predeceased by her husband, Douglas Harold Christensen in July 2001, and although Jean yearned immensely for him, she continued on her earthly journey with the same determination and diligence that she always had. Four children blessed their home, and all are surviving Jean’s passing. Bruce (Diane) Christensen, Darryl (Allyson) Christensen, Rae Anne Morin (Monte- deceased) and Tom (Kim) Christensen all mourn her at this time. Jean was so proud of her family, and rejoiced in her children, her numerous grandchildren and even more great grandchildren. She lived for the moments she could share with them. Jean was blessed to have good friends wherever she lived. She spent her youth in Welling and had numerous friends, then married and moved to Stirling where she made many more lifelong friends. She then moved to Medicine Hat, where she enjoyed wonderful companionship. Cardston and Magrath provided the same results. Jean loved flowers and maintained a beautiful flower and rose garden in every home she inhabited. She could be found each morning working in her garden. Jean will be missed by all who knew her. Other than her children, she is survived by her brother John, her sisters Mona (Cookie), Karen, Sharon, and Rae. Her sisters Betty and Edie, and her brother Wayne met her on the other side when she left this life. Jean enjoyed many hobbies, including but not limited to knitting, drama, music and cooking. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and she served faithfully until she died. She believed in eternal marriage and thus is reunited with her beloved Doug at this time.

A Viewing will be held for family and friends on Thursday, March 25th, 2021 from 6:00 to 7:00 pm at the Magrath Alberta Stake Center. A Private Family Service will be held at the Magrath Alberta Stake Center on Friday, March 26th, at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in the Stirling Cemetery.
