Katherine Wipf

1938 – 2021

Katherine Wipf, of Lethbridge, Alberta, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2021, at St. Michael’s Palliative Care Centre. She was lovingly referred to by family and friends as “Aunt Katie.”

Katherine was born in Raley, AB, on September 27, 1938, to Sam and Anna Wipf. Her family later relocated to a farm near Stirling, AB. She attended the Stirling Public School where she graduated from high school. Katherine went on to college where she took training in elementary education. She moved to Calgary, AB, where she spent over 30 years teaching in public school, touching the lives of many children. After retirement, Katherine moved to Lethbridge where she enjoyed being close to family. With generous hospitality and a love for people, she welcomed many friends along with family, into her home. Katherine is remembered for her love of flowers, warm summer days, social gatherings, shopping with her sisters, adventure, and traveling.

Katherine is survived by her sister Mary Wipf, of Stirling; brother-in-law John R. (Rebecca) Hofer, of Stirling; sister-in-law, Elizabeth (David) Wipf, of Brooks, AB. as well as five nieces, three nephews, and numerous great nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; one brother David Wipf; two sisters Rebecca Hofer and Anna Wipf and one niece Esther Hostetler.

Her faith in God carried her through all that life brought, bringing her peace and comfort.

The family would like to express warm gratitude for the many prayers, phone calls, visits, flowers, food, and acts of kindness on Aunt Katie’s behalf. A special thank-you to the nursing staff at St. Michael’s Health Care Center for their kind, gentle care of “Aunt Katie” during her time there.
