SHARON FILUK (BELL)

Sharon passed away peacefully in Mesa, AZ on May 11, 2021, due to complications from leukemia (CLL).

The family would like to thank Banner Hospice and especially nurse Debra for their help and kindness.

Sharon was born in Cold Lake, Manitoba to Alfred and Valerie Bell in 1938. The family spent time in Levack, Ontario before moving to Thompson, Manitoba. There she met her future husband, Tim Filuk, and they married in 1962. The first 25 years of married life was in Lethbridge, Alberta where they made many close friends and had family from both sides nearby. Sharon was active in her children’s lives – Sunday school, figure skating, volunteering – as well as enjoying her golf and curling. The family immigrated to San Diego, CA in 1984 becoming dual citizens. Sharon was very involved with their golf club as well as volunteering with Assistance League and co-authoring a cookbook. As the years went on, they moved to Seattle, WA to be closer to their first grandchildren. 17 years ago, they made Mesa their home. Sharon got busy joining the ceramics club, glass fusing club, painting, and playing bridge and spades.

Sharon was a loving mother and grandma. Her many nieces and nephews also cherished their time with her. She had the natural ability to be an engaged listener, leading her to many dear friends everywhere they settled.

Sharon is survived by her husband Tim, her daughter Sandra (Peter) and their children Timothy and Sarah, and her daughter Melissa (Jon) and their children Chandler and Madison as well as her three brothers, Larry (Teresa), George (Cheryl) and John.

    Dear Tim,
We were saddened to learn of Sandra’s passing. We always enjoyed visiting with Sandra at the Bell family reunions. Her willingness to travel long distances to visit with extended family was much appreciated. Our thoughts are with you and your family.

  2. Lynn Sterling says:

Dear Tim, Sandra, and Melissa and family,

I am so sorry to hear that Sharon passed away. I am many fond memories of growing up together as families in Lethbridge. Life takes us in many directions but the memories remain. I’m here in Lethbridge right now as we are packing mom up to move her back with us to Kelowna as my Dad passed away during this summers past heat wave on June 30. This year seems to be a year of grieving for all of us. Please take care.
    Lynn
