BYRON HENRY WOLSEY

1924 – 2021

Our beloved father, Byron Henry Wolsey, passed away on Father’s Day, Sunday, June 20th, 2021, in Cardston, Alberta, Canada at the age of 96.

Byron was born in Cardston, Alberta, Canada, September 26, 1924, to Edward Peter Wolsey and Esther Rees who had emigrated from Sanpete County, Utah. He was raised on a farm and ranch south of Cardston in the small community of Taylorville.

He started his career as a carpenter but eventually he gravitated back to his love for farming and ranching. He purchased his parent’s property, expanded the operation, and worked in that industry the rest of his career. He loved working with cattle and always enjoyed the great outdoors.

To supplement his income, he purchased his own school buses and drove for the Cardston School Division for over 35 years. He was proud of the fact that he drove all those years accident free. He loved the students he served, and they loved him.

Dad is survived by his children: Mell (Genna Vee), Dana Stewart (Robert), Murray (Valerie, deceased), Todd (Lori), Wes (Julie) and Elizabeth Allen (Richard). He has 33 grandchildren, 55 great grandchildren, and 13 great, great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife: Edna, his parents: Edward and Esther, his two sisters: Mildred Hinds and Eliza Bennett, and his seven brothers: Edward, Wendell, Hugh, Eldon, Elmo, Dean, and Morgan. We are happy for Dad and the joyous reunion he is having with mom and the many other loved ones that he has longed to see for many years.

Dad leaves a legacy of faithful devotion to God and his family. Byron labored tirelessly as a loving, devoted husband, a provider for his family, a father, a grandfather, a son, a brother, a friend, and a servant of the Lord. He faithfully served in several callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints including a full-time family history mission with his wife. He especially loved his many years of service in the Cardston, Alberta Temple.

All who knew Dad will miss his quick wit and humor, his strength, his positive attitude through trials, his kindness, his wise guidance, his caring nature, his love, and his acceptance of others.
