JUBBER

ELAINE JOYCE (SHOEKEL) JUBBER, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by family, Friday, July 9, 2021, at the age of 94 years. She leaves behind, her devoted sister Beryl Shoekel, who has been her loving support and constant companion since the death of her husband, Henry Melvin Jubber in 2012.

Elaine will be lovingly remembered by her children; Vernon (Janet), of Lethbridge, Gary (Ann), of Merrimack, New Hampshire, Delcia Mullen (Paul), of Calgary; seventeen grandchildren and 68 great- grandchildren whom she adored and who adored her. She is also survived by her sister Ramona Shoekel, her niece Sharon (Leon) Delport in East London, South Africa. She was predeceased by her brother Neville (Iris) Shoekel and brother Robert (Adore) Shoekel.

Elaine was born in Kimberley, South Africa on May 11, 1927 to Christian Edwin William Shoekel, and Francis May Clements. She was raised near the ocean in East London, South Africa and has always had a great love for her beautiful homeland. Elaine lost her mother at the tender age of 14 and felt a tremendous desire to do all she could to love and care for her younger brother and sister.

Elaine met her husband Melvin when she was 19 years old. They were married July 31, 1948 and spent 64 years together before his passing. They emigrated to Canada in 1957. They loved the people in the Lethbridge community. She was always an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Everything Elaine did was done to perfection. She knit beautifully and was an exquisite seamstress. She spent countless hours making dresses, skirts, gowns, pants, shirts, costumes, draperies, bedspreads, baby blankets, toys, doll clothes and so much more for her family and others. She did beautiful needlework, porcelain sculpting, and ceramics. She made chocolates, decorated wedding cakes and was a marvelous cook and hostess. She was an incredible homemaker and made everything around her beautiful and welcoming.

Elaine was gracious and sincerely interested in everyone she met. She had a special gift to make you feel special and important whenever you spent time with her.

She had high expectations for her children and grandchildren and was convinced that they could and should accomplish anything they desired. She inspired all who knew her be a little kinder, to stand a little straighter, to work a little harder, to be a little better and to make the world a more beautiful place. She was so loved by so many and will be sorely missed, but her influence will live on for years to come.

Funeral services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, FAIRMONT CHAPEL, 205 Fairmont Blvd. S, Lethbridge, Alberta on Wednesday, July 14th, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. Friends may meet with the family prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow in the Mountain View Cemetery.
