MELVIN JAMES GODLONTON

1932 – 2021

It is with deep sadness the family of Mel Godlonton announce his passing on, July 7/21.

No one loved life more than dad, and he lived it to the fullest, his way.

Dad’s sense of humour, wit and infectious laugh, to say nothing of his frequent articles in the Lethbridge Herald, will be missed but not forgotten.

Mel was born in Cardston Alberta, April 3,1932, the family had settled in Whisky Gap AB. He married his one true love Frances Dobson on June 17,1953. They enjoyed 62 years together.

Mel joined the Lethbridge Police on March 26,1956 and proudly served for 9 years.

He maintained many ties with the Lethbridge Police through the years and was very active with the historic Police car project.

He was quite the entrepreneur starting several business’ before becoming the Regional Manager for G.H. Woods & Co., till he retired at age 60.

He was predeceased by his wife Frankie, their daughter Brenda Dawn, and survived by his eldest son Milo, Miles (Carol) Godlonton and their children Amanda (David Hyde & their children Emerson & Declan), Ryan Godlonton (Jen Lund & her daughter Gabi) Troy Fleming and her son Cody.

A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday July 21/21, at; Southern Alberta Ethnic Centre
