PLATT

The family of WILLIAM “BILL” PLATT are devastated to announce his passing on Sunday, August 8, 2021 at the age of 88 years.

He was the anchor of our family, a devoted and loving husband for 68 years to Ena, father to David (Shari), Joanne (Del) and Bill (Tracy), grandfather to Stacey (Devon), Ashley (Rory), Miranda (Kyle), Meagan (Nathan) and Nathan (Victoria), and great-grandfather to Lochlyn, Berkley, Kenley, Ryley, Ellie, Samuel, Emmeline and Olivia.

Born in Irlam, England in 1933, Bill was one of 12 children. At 18, he joined the Armed Forces, and it was there at a local community dance he would meet and marry “the best wife I could ever have”. In 1955, Mom and Dad emigrated to Canada, hoping to find a better future for their children and grandchildren. He held a variety of jobs until 1959, when he began his career with the B.C. Forest Service in Nelson, B.C. Many years of tough times followed but they sacrificed and worked hard to make sure we had the opportunities they never had. He taught his sons to be gentlemen, to work hard, and how to play a good game of golf which he did joyfully and often. Following his retirement in 1993, they moved to Lethbridge where eventually all our family would reside.

To Dr. M J Amatto, we cannot find words to express how much we appreciate your years of compassionate care and kindness that you gave Dad.

To Dr. Malpica and the nursing staff on 4B at Chinook Regional Hospital, our deepest gratitude to all of you who cared for him and our family during our most difficult time.

At Bill’s request, there will be no funeral service.

We will always miss you Dad.
