Lorraine Shortt

(Sept 25 1940 – Aug 5 2021)

Lorraine Shortt (nee Gloeckler) of Monarch, AB, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Lorraine is survived by her daughters Darla (Ron) Kingston, Michelle (Jesse) Martin, Heather (Henry) Van Eck, Fran Hoeksema, and Aran Shortt, as well as her siblings Diane, Daryl, and Darlene. She also leaves 13 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.

She is predeceased by her husband Frank, her parents Art and Ara Gloeckler, her brother Garth, and her grandson Ryan Kingston.

Lorraine and her husband lived for their family and for the place they called home. You could always find her hemming pants and sewing curtains, in the garden, cheating at family boardgame night, feeding her late cats (Poppa, Loki, and Oliver) treats by the handful or cooking up a storm for Sunday night dinner.

The space she leaves behind is immeasurable. We love and miss her so much already.

At Lorraine’s request there will be no funeral. The family celebration of life will be in September.
