Bernice “Bonnie” Klimek

1924 – 2021

Mrs. Bernice “Bonnie” Klimek of Lethbridge, beloved wife of Mr. Frank Klimek, passed away quietly at Legacy Lodge on September 7th, 2021, at the age of 97 years.

Bonnie was born on May 30, 1924, in Windthorst, Saskatchewan.

Bonnie is predeceased by her husband Frank; parents Frank & Elenora Martodam; sister Rene Baker; brothers Clarence, Harold, Len, Dennis and Georgie.

Bonnie is survived by her daughters Karen (Dave) Huxley, Barb (Dwain) Bourk, Shelley (Doug) Grasdal; grandchildren Valerie Dahl, David Huxley, Anita Bourk, Dwayne Bourk, Trevor and Todd Wardale, Cody Grasdal; great grandkids Nigel Scott-Moncrieff, Alyssa Taylor, Hayden Huxley, Mady Dahl, Tyrell and Colton Bourk, Noah, Xaija and Phoenix Grasdal; 4 great great grandkids Axle & Adelynn Scott-Moncrieff and Henley & Emery Taylor.

Bonnie married Frank Klimek in 1948 in Prince Albert Sask. They owned and operated a service station, coffee shop and bulk gas sales business in Holbein, SK from 1957 to 1964. After a few years in Shellbrook SK, they moved to Lethbridge AB in 1967.

Bonnie worked in the Offices at Woolco for over 18 years. She was a member and executive of the CWL since 1949.

Bonnie had a beautiful singing voice and sang in her high school choir and in the Lethbridge Church choir for 23 years. In her teenage years she sang regularly for a radio station in Regina SK and won a Talent Contest singing with a friend at the Drake Hotel in Regina. Her brothers and families are very musical, and she loved the family sing songs around the old piano.

Bonnie loved sewing, embroidery, knitting, ceramics, bowling, dancing and playing cards. She taught all of her grandchildren to play cards. She loved being outside and at the lake.

Bonnie had an incredible sense of humor and always enjoyed a good joke and a laugh.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm, on Thursday, September 16, 2021, at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610-4 Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta. Interment to follow in the Mountain View Cemetery.
