PURVIS

KENNETH JAMES PURVIS passed away on September 12th, 2021 at St. Michael’s Health Centre in Lethbridge from Lewy Body Disease.

Ken is survived by his wife Julia; son Duncan (Heather), daughter Jane (Matthew), daughter Taylor, and son Jackson; and grandchildren Keltie, Maclean, William and Archie.

Ken was born in Turner Valley, Alberta, and received both his BA and LLB from the University of Alberta. He co-founded Peterson and Purvis Law Offices in Lethbridge, Alberta in 1971, eventually establishing a second office in Taber. Ken also later founded Retailink, a franchise consulting business. He proudly volunteered with the Legal Education Society of Alberta and thoroughly enjoyed his years in business development.

He was a devoted father, husband, and Edmonton Oilers enthusiast. His happiest memories were of skiing with his university crew, being on a field trial with his dogs and horses, skiing and biking with family in Big Sky, watching his kids play hockey, and toasting the sunset in the Florida Keys. Ken cherished his time as a runner and volunteer coach, spending many weekends with his running crew. He was also a self-declared wanna-be cowboy, running his black cows with his best friend Gary in Wyoming.

Ken always said his greatest and most significant accomplishment was his children, living by the adage “our sole purpose in this life is to raise good kids”.

Your corny jokes, Ken Purvis mannerisms and your loud but loving reprimands will live on in our hearts and minds forever.

A service will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers please donate to your local minor hockey association.

As Ken would often say, borrowing a Roy Rogers’ quote: “Good bye, good luck, and may the good lord take a likin’ to ya”
