MCMURRAY

DAVID GEORGE MCMURRAY, 96, passed away peacefully in his home early Wednesday morning on September 22, 2021 in Beazer, Alberta. David joins his first daughter Joleen (deceased), and is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Lexie (Beazer), and his 7 children, James (Carol), Donald (Juanita), Michael (Barbara), Robert (Sandra), Kenneth (Cheryl), Lynda (Shawn Olsen), Jack (Karma). 31 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.

David was born June 1, 1925 to Parley and Freda McMurray of Orton, Alberta. David was the last surviving member of his family that included his siblings, Alice, Naomi, Phillip, and Alan.

David and his best friend, Bud Jenkins, joined the Navy in their late teens and served two years near the end of the war.

David was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. As a young man, he served a mission in Toronto, Ontario. He also served in many positions in the church – twice as a councillor in bishoprics and he also served as bishop. David and his wife Lexie served many years in the temple and visitors center.

David was a good athlete and excelled in hockey as a youth. Later on in his life, he enjoyed golfing with his brothers-in-law and then with all of his sons and daughter. David’s joy was his wife and family. He loved his grandchildren and could be found at every event cheering them on. He and Lexie were also avid dancers and especially enjoyed the jive.

We would like to thank all for the kindness and support we have been given.
