HARVEY

WAYNE MURRAY HARVEY, of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Ruth Kergan for 28 years, passed away suddenly at home on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at the age of 77 years.

Along with his wife, Wayne is lovingly remembered by his son Scott (Tracy) Harvey and their sons, Marcus and Tristen; son Derek; and step-sons Mike, Randall and Dan (Tammy) Thomsen and their children, Jace and Lily.

He was predeceased by his parents Clifford and Gratia, brother Ross and the mother of his children, Carole Harvey.

Wayne was born in Lethbridge and spent his early childhood in the Drumheller area before returning to Lethbridge. He attended LCI until joining the army in 1961, serving in Europe as part of NATO, stationed in Iserlohn, Germany. While in Germany, Wayne played bass guitar and sang in the band, the T-Birds, under the ruse of “public relations” for the Canadian Army. Upon his departure from the military, he worked for CP Rail, Purity Dairy and spent 33 years at Palliser Distilleries (Black Velvet). Wayne was involved with coaching his sons’ in hockey in addition to playing hockey with the Coaldale Sugar Daddies. He was also an avid slow pitch player attending the Huntsman World Senior Games several times with The Bandits. Wayne spent his retirement with his wife as snowbirds, travelling in their motorhome throughout the US, settling in Val Vista Villages in Mesa, AZ.

Wayne will be remembered by friends and family as one to never turn down a party or a beer, but also for his kindness, sense of humour and generous spirit. He will be missed.

Due to COVID, a small private Celebration of Wayne’s Life will be held.

In memory of Wayne, please consider a donation to the Northern Lights Wildlife Wolf Centre, 1745 Short Rd., Golden, BC V0A 1H1 or to The Lethbridge & District Humane Society, 2920-16th Ave. North, Lethbridge, AB T1H 5E9.
