Rose Elizabeth Szigli

June 5, 1919 – October 23, 2021

It is with great sadness that we said goodbye to our precious dear Mom on Saturday October 23, 2021, at the age 102.

After many close calls our dear Mom was a fighter to the end. Due to complications from pneumonia, she fought her final battle. This was not covid related.

Rose was born in Esterhazy, Sask on June 5, 1919, to Mike & Marcella Chomos. She was the eldest of 9 children.

Mom met our dear Dad Steve, at a church function in Lestock, Sask. They were married for 70 years until his passing on February 14, 2009. She was also predeceased by her parents, her 8 siblings, her daughters, Shirley and “little” Annie and son David.

In the early fifties they moved from Lestock to Taber. Mom worked very hard not only in the home raising her children but also helping Dad in the sugar beet fields hoeing and topping the sugar beets.

Our Mom lived for her family. She was an amazing cook and made the best ever cabbage rolls and rhubarb pie. We always had lots to eat as Mom always had a huge garden and did a lot of canning. She also made her own bread and noodles. After retiring from the farm in Purple Springs in 1974 they moved to Lethbridge. She loved her flowers and had a green thumb for her African Violets. Mom and Dad took great pleasure and pride in their garden and yard. Mom was an avid bowler with Dad and they won trophies and had a lot of fun with their friends.

Mom was a devout Catholic and loved going to church. She prayed the rosary every day when she was able. She was also a long-time member of the ladies CWL.

With grace and honor we celebrated Mom’s 100 Birthday in June 2019 with family and friends. It was an amazing day! She so enjoyed all the family and friends that came to celebrate this special occasion with her.

She leaves to mourn her children: Ken (Doreen), Darlene Delorme, Dianne (Jim) Rediker, Roseanne Tucker (Stan Wall), Lloyd (Eunice). She has many, many grandchildren and great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

After 18 years at St. Michaels, we would like to thank the Doctors Nurses and Staff for their loving care of our Mother Rose.

Mom was loved very much, and her beautiful smile will be missed by all.

Love you Mom. God be with you till we meet again, your children.
