Garrett, Edith “Bessie”

Scott (nee Bean)

Edith Garrett, our loving Mom, passed away quietly in the early hours of Tues. Nov. 2nd at the age of 85. As the youngest of six children and one step-brother, she was predeceased by her Father, David Bean of North Dakota; her Mother Elizabeth Bean Brown of Coutts-Milk River, then Magrath; her step-father Frank Brown of Magrath; and all of her siblings, as well as both her first husband, Murray Scott of Southern Alberta; and her second husband Thomas Garrett of Coalhurst.

She is survived by her children, Lorna (Edward) Frache of Lethbridge, Ken (Barb) Scott of Slave Lake, Glen Scott of Raymond, Gary (Vicki) Scott of Lethbridge, and Holly (Barry) Fisk of Raymond; one sister-in-law, Jane Ellen (John) DeMitri of Kelowna; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; “as-good-as-sisters” friends; friends and neighbours. Mom loved all her extended family – whether you were literal family or adopted in. If she loved you, you were extended family.

Edith has spent the past 9 months receiving wonderful care from the staff at both Lethbridge and Raymond hospitals, and Good Samaritan’s residences in Magrath, Raymond and most recently Cardston. We sincerely thank all those at each facility for their kindness and compassion.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Taylor Street Chapel (221 North, 400 West, Raymond). All are welcome, however for those who wish, live-streaming will be available at www.generationsfh.ca, and scroll to the bottom of Edith’s obituary. Interment will follow at Magrath Cemetery.
