1919 – 2022

Mrs. Mildred Thompson nee Anderson of Milk River, beloved wife of the late Mr. Leonard Thompson, passed away at Milk River Long Term Care Facility on Sunday, June 19, 2022 at the age of 102 years. 37 days short of her 103 birthday.

Mildred was born east of Milk River at home to William and Mabel Anderson in Kippenville, Alberta on July 26, 1919 and spent all of her life in the Coutts, Milk River area. She married Leonard Thompson of Coutts on October 29, 1942. Mildred was very active in the Coutts United Church, the Royal Purple and the community. They retired to Milk River in October of 1981, after Leonard’s passing in 1998, she stayed in her home until spring of 2009 when she moved to Prairie Rose Lodge then on to the long term care in December of 2018.

Mildred was predeceased by her husband Leonard; grandson Leslie; grandson-in-law Jamie Packer; her family Harold (Kay) Anderson, Peggy (Bert) Wicks, Darrel (Jan) Anderson and all of Leonard’s siblings and their spouses.

Mildred is survived by her sons Kirt (Louise) Thompson, Roy (Sharon) Thompson; grandchildren Allen (Renia) Thompson, Sheila Thompson, Karen (Chris) House, Dan (Mary) Thompson, Scott (Debbie) Thompson, Todd (Jennifer) Thompson; 11 great- grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, June 23, 2022 at the ST. PAUL’S UNITED CHURCH, 201 – 2 Avenue NE, Milk River, with Reverend Marion Martin, officiating. A private family graveside service will be held prior in the Milk River Cemetery.
