VOORT

It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of HEATHER VOORT (née RENNIE) at the age of 76 years old on August 1, 2022 in Lethbridge. Heather was known for her caring nature to the many who knew her and she will be dearly missed.

She was born in Aberdeen, Scotland on June 26, 1946, and as an infant, battled polio until age two. In 1948, once she had recovered, she and her family moved to Lethbridge where she would spend the rest of her life.

Heather is survived by her husband of 37 years, Joe Voort, children Kari (Brad) Dodds, Jody (Jayson) More and Sandi (Lauren) Bell as well as her sister Kathi (Aaron) Campbell and brothers Stewart Rennie (Sandy Simm) and Malcolm Rennie (Nancy Buchanan). She is also survived by her seven grandchildren, Shay (Brittany) Dodds, Taylor More (Lorah Ansel), Tori More, Kiana (Craig) Falkmer, Logan Bell, Briggs More (Bess DeShields) and Cooper (Katie) Bell; and seven great-grandchildren, Hailey Jackson, Penelope Slayd More, Mila More, Sawyer Dodds, Everest More, Vaughn Dodds and Theodore Falkner.

She was predeceased by her parents, Henry & Gertrude (née Noble) Rennie. Beyond these members of her family, she was known to a great number of other relatives and friends in Lethbridge and beyond.

She was a very well-respected and experienced lab technician and so much more to many in her career which spanned over 41 years at Haig Clinic and later at Chinook Regional Hospital. Heather’s character often had a focus on helping others, taking care of her husband through illness and her parents in their later years, and supporting many other family and friends who have faced health crises. She looked forward to pictures and updates of grandkids and great-grandkids, and was happy to have had such a large and loving family who — along with many others — will remember her fondly.

A Service of Remembrance will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2825 32 St. S, Lethbridge, on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at 10:30 A.M. with Patrick Siedlecki officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Heather’s memory can be made to your favourite charity.
