Karen Nelson

1951 – 2022

Mrs. Karen Anne Nelson of Warner, beloved wife of Mr. Terry Nelson, passed away peacefully after a lengthy battle with cancer at The Good Samaritan Society Prairie Ridge in Raymond, on Thursday, August 4, 2022, at the age of 70 years.

She leaves to cherish her memories her husband Terry of 44 years; son Troy (Sheri); daughters Brandi (Neil) and their children Joscelyn and Abbie, Cori (Dustin) and their children Courtney, Lauren and Shay; bothers John (Sue) Wachtler, David Wachtler; sisters Diane (Alan) Losey, Mary (Ted) McTaggart; sister-in-laws Joye Wachtler, Sandra Nelson as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families.

Karen was born on December 18, 1951 and she was predeceased by her parents Leo and Betty Wachtler; in-laws Fred and Grace Nelson and her big brother Joe.

Karen was an avid athlete growing up showing her passion for softball and curling. It was curling that she carried with her into adulthood where she had countless games with Terry, her children and friends for many years. As they wound down their participation in curling, this opened up multiple trips to curling events. Whether it was in Alberta, BC, Las Vegas and even over to Switzerland; when the game called, they either went or watched on TV.

Karen and Terry loved to travel. They took multiple treks across the United States to see and experience many sites and historical locations. They traveled extensively with friends to many destinations such as Fiji, different areas in Mexico and the Panama Canal to name a few. One of Karen’s fondest memories were of fishing in the ocean in Malaysia.

Karen was Terry’s right hand lady on the farm. She cooked for many years for him and the hired men as well as being the truck driver when needed.

She loved spending time with family and friends and wished she had more time with her grandchildren. She will be missed by all and remembered for her spunk and stubbornness. All who knew her knew she shot straight from the hip and had no qualms offering her opinion.

The family want to extend our deepest gratitude to the staff at the Raymond Hospital and the Raymond Good Samaritans Home. You all took such great care of her these last couple of months and we couldn’t have asked for more.

Please join us for a graveside service at 2:00pm on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at the Warner Cemetery. Followed by a luncheon at the Warner Elk’s Hall.

Cremation has been entrusted to Martin Brothers Funeral Chapels.
